Prague Hostels

The beauty of the city of Prague makes it very easy to be a tourist there. You could spend the time staring out your window at the sites and still feel fulfilled. While you would never spend your time this way, the good news is that many places in the city do in fact have such a view. For the most part, hostels are situated on the southern side of the river, the southeastern side of the city. To the north is Prague Castle and some of the city's best parks, but the south side holds the best of the city's architecture and culture.

For as little as $9 you can get a 12 bed private room (meant for large groups) at Prague Center Hostel. The hostel is conveniently located right off the river, nearby Wenceslas Square, within easy walking distance of Old Town Square, one of the most interesting and beautiful squares in Central Europe. One of the best parts of Prague Center's location is that it is right up the street from  U Flekü, the 510 year-old beer hall, where you will find traditionally-brewed, original-recipe beer, waiters with platters of the sweet Czech liquor Becherovka, beer steins and lederhosen-wearing accordion players. Prague Center itself hosts nightly tasting sessions of everything Czech, a great way to get to know your fellow travelers alongside the friendly and helpful staff while staying in high-quality, modern apartments with beautiful views.

St. Christopher's at The Mosaic House is another modern, popular hostel where you can get your fill of the Czech lifestyle amongst fellow explorers. St. Christopher's is a party-oriented hostel that has its own bar and restaurant that features daily happy hours and live entertainment, all with a $14 stay. Nearby New Town and Prague Center Hostel, St. Christopher's offers some of the best in terms of location, while filling in the gaps with its own amenities. The Charles Bridge and the famous Prague waterfront, Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square are all within easy walking distance. St. Christopher's has been known to group single travelers together so they may meet each other in a comfortable setting, a unique and valuable part of having experienced travelers managing the services of their former selves.

For those looking to blaze their own trails through they city, Sir Toby's Hostel offers beds for as low as $5.50 per night. Sir Toby's is a fun, hospitable place whose only downside is its distance from the center of town, something that can be fixed by taking a 10-minute tram to the must-see parts of the city. The hostel has its own bar in the basement for those travelers who wish to do their exploring during the day. As opposed to St. Christopher's, which advertises its tendency towards being a party hostel, and Prague Center Hostel, which is more centrally located, Sir Toby's is more removed from the nightlife, allowing for an often essential good night's sleep.
