The Military Museumin Prague is an important and popular attraction in the city which documents the history of the Czech Army and its many battles. This Aviation Museum was founded in 1968 and is one of the largest air museums in all of Europe. Overall there are 285 aircraft held here, 155 of which are stored away, 85 exhibited indoors, 25 displayed in open air and 10 operational aircraft that are still in service. If you are interested in aviation or its history in this country, this is an absolute must see attraction when in and around Prague.
The Army Museum is divided into three main sections. The first is dedicated to World war one and the armies involvement. The second section is dedicated to the army and the time between the world wars. The third section is designed to explain the Second World War and the efforts toward the country's independence that came later. On display are the uniforms, weapons and banners of the Army as well as they story of the anti communist resistance.
The Military History Museum is another big part of the Military Museum and is divided into three departments. The museum and administration department, the history and documentation department and the occupational and economic department make up these three departments. This museum does an excellent job of giving an in depth history of the country and the many trials it has faced over its history. From its role in times of war to its many resistances that have fought against the dictatorships that have plagued these countries past, there is much to learn and discover here. This is the head department of the museum that is the overarching figure controlling these many important museums.
