Prague hotels

The National Museum is the largest museum in the Czech Republic and is composed of a number of different departments. These departments include the Historical Museum, the Museum of Natural Sciences, the Library of the National Museum, the Naprstek Museum, the Czech museum of Music, as well as two other administrative departments. The collection featured at these institutions is huge in quantity and it may be difficult to choose just which attractions and exhibitions are the best choices to see. Of these museums, the Natural History Museum, Historical Museum, Czech Museum of Music and the Narprstek Museum all offer expansive collections on their particular areas of study and the National Museum Library features a marvelous display of volumes dating back many centuries. This building is a favorite among history buffs looking to study the rich selection of volumes held here.

Rotating exhibits are held at these locations so it is wise to check beforehand which are most interesting to you personally so you can be sure not to miss them. Price of admission is quite reasonable, especially considering the rich collections that are featured. Check ahead with each particular institution for the hours of operation as they do change seasonally. There are a myriad of different buildings featuring exhibits that fall under these main institutions so it is necessary to take a look at the museums website before heading out to see which particular buildings and exhibitions interest you. The Main building is currently under reconstruction through 2015 as it is in need of restoration. This is a phenomenal building to walk by and peer at however so do not let the buildings closure prevent you from doing a quick walk by to view the beautiful architectural design.

Other nearby buildings such as the National Museum's new building, the Narprstek building and Czech Museum of Music building are all located close by and can be seen very easily when out and about in Old Town Prague. Other locations include the Bedrich Smetana Museum, Antonin Dvorak Museum, Lipidarium Exhibition of Stone Monuments and Ethnographical Museum. These are all worth a look too if you have the time, however if pressed for time and debating which attractions to visit, making sure you see the main galleries mentioned earlier are a better choice. It is quite clear that the Museum does an excellent job in maintaining a very high standard for quality attractions and exhibits as these museums are consistently rated among the top sights to see when in Prague.

Most of the exhibitions can be seen within an hour or so and planning to include the main museum buildings in your day's plan of sightseeing is not difficult given their location nearby many other great attractions. With the exception of the Charles Bridge, Prague Castle and Astronomical Clock, these galleries may be the best sights to visit when in Prague. Come with an open mind, ready to learn about everything to do with this region and how it has come to be the great city that it is today.
